Feast your eyes on this MONUMENTAL set of Formia Di Vetri glass lovebirds done in a sleek modern black glass form on crystal bases. It's difficult to date these dazzling beauties as Formia's furnaces were in production between 1962 and late 2016, when it declared bankruptcy and reorganized under a different name. In fact, while I've had this set for over a decade, the same design is still being sold new online (with each one selling for over $1,000). Formia has produced the most spectacular and highly-coveted Murano glass birds of any any modern-day Murano furnace, and you'll find many of these misattributed to Alfredo Barbini and Archimede Seguso. While our spectacular birds no longer retain original labels, their origins are indisputable. The last photo shows a similarly scaled and shaped bird with the identical Formia crystal base and a Formia label.
