Stunning C.1950s MURANO "Venetian Violet" Optic GLASS DECANTER For Bischoff Liquor
This tall gold-strewn luxurious C.1950s Murano glass decanter was originally sold filled with Bischoff Apricot brandy (the bottle was referred to as "Venetian Violet" in a 1955 ad--see last photo) and giftboxed. It's known that Bischoff sourced some glass decanters from Archimede Seguso and Fratelli Toso (this piece, in fact, is widely attributed to Fratelli Toso). Salviati also gets a fair number of mentions, probably because of the decanter's 'old Venetian' vibe. Nevertheless, to my knowledge, there has not been a definitive attribution for this design, and frankly, given the beauty of this piece, it hardly matters. Note the heavy use of gold aventurine--in the stopper, the medallions that grace the body of the decanter, and the footed base. The ribs or diamond texture in the decanter body show the piece to have been mold-blown, and the clarity and high quality of the glass is evident. Clean and in perfect condition (save for a couple of polished 'notches' in the foot that appear to have been done during production), this magnificent piece will look awesome on your bar, particularly during holiday celebrations!
