PRETTY RARE BLENKO Joel Myers #6529 Glass Floor Decanter in Tangerine

Behold this huge and very hard to find Blenko glass decanter in Tangerine (amberina) by Joel Myers. While this beauty was featured in Blenko's 1965-1967 catalogs, its absolute lack of utility (the decanter is 20" tall with about a 9" diameter at its widest--it would probably take 4 bottles of wine to even fill) suggests that not many were actually made. Certainly, precious few have been sold on the secondary market--at least as "Blenko 6529"--as Worthpoint recorded only two sales of a fully intact decanter over the past decade (see 2nd to last photo). And, as of this writing, our Blenko 6529 is the only one for sale on the internet. So "pretty rare" might understate things a bit.

The condition of the decanter's interior is remarkable given its very light-colored center (clear glass hides nothing!). While there are some very isolated areas of light condensation staining, including one drip stain, you're going to have to work very hard to find any of them, even in bright studio light (the conditions under which this was photographed). As such, the clarity is remarkable and colors quite vivid. The stopper is original (notice how the slightly flattened ball on top mirrors the bottle's bulbous protrusion) and fits like a glove. However, it does sport a chip and possible repair on the nub portion that sits in the bottle's neck. (See photos.) Moreover, moisture was trapped in the sealed stopper at the time of production resulting in condensation stains. This issue apparently comes with the territory--the two other #6529 decanters recorded by Worthpoint had the same issue. Take note of a couple of long bubbles in the neck area while we're here in the weeds.

Despite the imperfections I've taken care to note, this big bright RARE bodacious beauty sparkles in the light and displays PERFECTLY--even with backlighting!

Frequently Asked Questions

Custom and personalized orders

GLASSpheme loves custom orders! But how do we 'customize' vintage glass? Simple. We love glass and we love our customers--and there are many ways we can help!

1) Volume discounts: Let's say there are several pieces you MUST have. Let me know, and I'll send you our very best price for the lot.

2) Custom displays: Say you have a special place in your home that SCREAMS for a glass display. Send me a photo of the space, your budget, and the accent colors for your room, and we'll send you photographs of possible groupings and our special pricing for the lot.

3) Tell us what groupings you have in mind, and we'll photograph them together for you so you can see how they'll look together.

Gift wrapping and packaging

What could be better than giving a gorgeous piece of vintage glass as a gift? (Aside from getting one, that is.) Glass is beautiful and functional--mostly! Consider a super mod biomorphic bowl or cased glass jar for a vanity or dresser, a platter/centerpiece for fruit on a countertop, or a vase for cut flowers. Not only does vintage glass bring exquisite delight to the most mundane of household functions (you should see our soap dishes), but our beauties increase in value over time. Send us a note telling us your purchase is a gift, and we will send it along with your personalized gift card, colorful tissue paper and a bow. (You alone will receive the receipt by email.)

Can I Select Custom Arrival Dates?

GLASSpheme ships your purchase on the very next business day, but we're flexible too! If you're going away on vacation or have a special date you'd like your gift to arrive, send us a note, and we'll time our shipping for you!

How can I get coupons for your shop and be informed of sales?

Simple! Join the GLASSpheme mailing list! Paste this link in your browser, send us your email address, and VOILA--you'll be among the first to know when your favorite piece of glass is on sale, or when we're offering coupons.

Do you purchase collections?

We sure do, all the time! Simply send us a photograph of the pieces you wish to sell and we'll make you our best offer! If you accept it, all you have to do is send us an invoice through Paypal, and ship it to us, if local pick-up isn't possible.
