This MASSIVE and SUMPTUOUS Hollywood Regency vase done in lavishly ribbed crystal-over-gold aventurine-flecked lattimo glass could easily have been created by any of the Masters of the mid-century (Barovier, Seguso, Barbini) -- similar pieces can be found with their documented attributions. HOWEVER, I am nearly 100% certain that this unmarked beauty is a mid-century Ermanno Toso creation produced by Fratelli Toso. The first clue is its unique shape--the round base of the vase transforming into a four-sided vessel at the mouth. The second clue was in a past auction for the same vase on Worthpoint where the seller's description of the unseen label indeed smacked of Fratelli Toso. Finally, a 1stDibs photo of the same piece (now sold) was attributed to FT by one of the very few truly knowledgable and honest Murano glass sellers in today's market. [Alas--even the most supposedly reputable auction houses and even 1stDibs dealers are misrepresenting recent Murano AND China-made pieces as vintage murano these days. For that reason, I take the time to document my attributions in my product descriptions and guarantee them (see the GLASSpheme policies page) and I'm always happy to try to help you confirm the authenticity of a piece you find elsewhere.]
