Here's a crazy gorgeous Alfredo Barbini pale lavender opalescent bullicante decanter or perfume bottle with twisted flame stopper! Barbini's luxurious bullicante glass decanters are well documented and while our exquisite beauty has lost its label, there are many examples of similar pieces online sporting either the Camer Glass or Weil Ceramics & Glass import labels that make the Barbini attribution unassailable.
The most exciting aspect of this decanter is the pale lavender OPALESCENT glass--Barbini's decanters were most commonly done in cased glass (several layers of transparent glass or gold over white lattimo glass). The opalescent glass, less opaque than the cased versions, shifts in hue with the changes in the light. In daylight, it appears lighter and more translucent--it has a heavenly dreamlike quality. In the evening, the glass takes on a bluer hue, like a periwinkle, and the gold aventurine throughout both the decanter and stopper make it glitter like a jewel.
