This 37" tall architectural size Blenko #628L glass decanter was designed by Wayne Husted for the 1962 catalog and made for ONE YEAR ONLY, putting it amongst the very rarest Blenkos EVER. In fact, I don't know of any other architectural-sized Blenkos that were made only for one year. Using Worthpoint's historical online auction sales as a proxy metric for rarity, this baby is off the charts! Only SIX of them were sold on eBay (properly attributed, that is) since 2007.
This clean sparkling PRISTINE beauty (it appears never to have held liquid and has no damage whatsoever) is done in highly coveted AMETHYST (1962 was the last year in Blenko's 'historical period' that they produced AMETHYST), but as the photos suggest, this is a more purple amethyst, e.g. less red, more blue in the mix. The stopper alone is 14" tall, the body, 26" tall.
